Thomas Jarry is a French painter born in 1974, and his artistic journey is a constant evolution reflecting his perpetual quest for authenticity. From 1998 to 2008, he delved into “figuration libre,” creating a satirical universe that critiqued our consumer society by portraying penguins pushing shopping carts. Thomas shared his vision through numerous exhibitions in galleries, salons, and cultural centers.
In 2008, he took a major life turn by settling in Marrakech which resulted with a new stage in his artistic life and creation of art inspired by social satire in the Moroccan context. While remaining true to narrative figuration, Thomas explored the realm of cartoons, pin-ups, and reimagined pop art, with a touch of expressionism, while continuing to convey important social messages.
In 2015, the artistic journey led him to Ibiza, where he opened his own “nomadic” gallery at the hippie markets, exploring urban art and the freedom of expression. Then, in 2020, he discovered Minorca, an island that rekindled his passion for art. The artist embraced his long-contained attraction to abstraction, inspired by the landscapes, nature, and the island’s quality of life.
Thomas left behind social critique for a new artistic approach characterised by deliberate, controlled actions and a form of meditation through his creations.
